Raymond James 24th Annual Women’s Symposium.
September 26-28 2018, Tampa Florida
Of all the conferences that I attend, the Raymond James Women’s Symposium, held for the 24th time September 26 -28, 2018 in Tampa, Florida, is by far my favorite. Michelle Lynch, Vice President, Network for Women’s Advisors and her team at the Network for Women’s Advisors put together an amazing agenda with thoughtful care and attention to details. Between the female first agenda, and the inspiring advisors around me, it’s one I wouldn’t ever miss.
I always leave the conference with a laundry list of inspiring ideas. Today, I wanted to share my three biggest takeaways that would be applicable to all business owners and successful women.
1. The Hot Shot Rule: This one comes courtesy of Kat Cole, President and COO of Focus Brands. We are all blinded by our own progress. If a new “hot shot” took over your business or life tomorrow and looked at it with fresh eyes what is the one thing they would change immediately? Think about that change and, then, go out and change it.
2. Treat social media like a first date: This rules comes from Crystal Washington of CWM Enterprises. People can’t see in your house more than what you share. Develop a voice in your market in line with your brand, and be consistent in your posting.
3. Are you prepared for the next wave? This is inspired by Linda Duessel, Senior Equity Market Strategist for Federated. Millennials are the largest generational cohort in history, they are the most well educated and tech savvy yet. They are also in the highest consumer years of their lives. For the first time in 2017, the millennial generation out earned the Baby Boomers. So, think, who does your business cater to, and do you need to make any adjustments?
These are only three of the numerous takeaways I was able to once again bring with me from this inspiring symposium. While it’d be impossible to share them all in a short blog post, I wanted to be able to pass along some of my favorites that have moved me enough to begin making changes almost as soon as I boarded my flight home.
