Experience Musikfest on the Cheap

With the upcoming 2019 Musikfest, there’s a lot to be excited for! From the food, beverages, and of course the entertainment, we’re excited for a little bit of everything… except perhaps the toll it takes on our wallet. Perhaps the one thing that everyone can agree on is that after a fun filled week of festing, no one wants to check their bank account balance.

But we might be able to help! Here are a few things you can do to minimize that blow to your budget this Musikfest season.

Use an older mug:

This method has been tried and true for many many years by avid festers. You probably already know this but you don’t HAVE to use the most current mug from that year to enjoy the festing. So unless you need the newest mug for your collection, just stick with an old one or borrow one from a friend. Plus the Artsquest store located in Steelstacks that’s open year round has been known to put older mugs out on the cheap, so you could snag this year’s… just next year instead.

Plan out your food ticket purchases:

For all of their food and beverage vendors, Musikfest requires that you purchase tickets at designated spots in exchange for these items. While you might be tempted to just stop and grab $40 worth of tickets, you might find yourself with leftover tickets afterwards, and that’s basically money wasted because unlike a mug, tickets are only good for that specific year. So instead, hunt out what you want to eat then purchase just the tickets you need for those items.

Purchase food and beverages from local businesses:

Unlike Musikfest itself, local businesses already in the area don’t require special tickets. If you need a mug refill or something to eat, there are a ton of places offering great deals to get your business.

Go to the free concerts:

While the fest is known for its big acts, there are in fact a TON of free shows dotted all throughout the entire grounds all week long. You don’t have to spend a penny to take in some great tunes.

Eat before you get there/pack your own food:

While many people specifically go to Musikfest to grab their Aw Shucks corn or Hogar Crea shish kabobs, that doesn’t mean all your meals have to be eaten there. While you can treat yourself to that one item you’ve been missing since last year, it doesn’t mean all your meals need to be purchased there. By packing your own snacks you can save a ton of money.

Want to get the best bang for your buck this Musikfest? It’s not too tricky. With a little research and preplanning, you’ll be good to go! We also recommend downloading the Musikfest app to plan our your day. It has a map, daily events, and all sorts of details to get you in a Musikfest mood!
